Show Transcript
everyone I Mike Lyons principal Brighton High School I'd like to welcome you to the 2021 school year we are excited to getting back started in our educational Journey theoretically we've been on the longest spring break imaginable I know it's probably the longest one in history with that being said we're ready to get back we know he's got some ground to make up but we're excited to to get started I hope that the students are as excited as we to get back to work there's going to be some changes the changes that we've made our all to help students be safe enhance learning in and out of covid-19 we've all I think we all learned some things are going to help us in our journey through life they're going to help us in our educational efforts be better and stronger and efficient as we educate with all those things being said I'm going to go over to get to breathe idea of a brief talk about a few things that what will be different this year first of all all students and teachers and faculty staff and we'll have to wear face masks as of today you know this may change by the 24th and if so we will get the word out with currently we will all have to wear face masks in and that's just going to be a requirement that we're going to have to live with this the world we live in so please bring your your face mask water fountains will be turned off need to bring them a bottle of water a container that you can refill we will have bottles of water available you know just know that the water fountains are going to be off and your student may need means to to get water we're going to provide that the water found their owner off we're going to provide that and we are currently in the process of adapting our water fountains to where they can at least be refit refilling stations for bottles and containers so that's something I've been working on currently our cafeteria line in the morning for breakfast will be at getting go a grab-and-go however you want to call it I'm students will be able to enter the cafeteria go in get the breakfast Adams eggs at the cafeteria to eat outside in covered break area lunch our lunch we're going to monitor our Powerline and make sure that we have proper spacing for stew in addition to that we're going to he's every other seating practices and in the cafeteria and the adjacent seats will be staggered so students will be spaced out accordingly while they either their lunch our classrooms were going to do spacing in our classrooms to adequately give them the room that they need to social distance we're going to ask help us maintain their social distance during Hall passings and and movements outside brakes Etc so you know there's going to be some responsibility on the students tune to do the best they can do and I do believe that our students are true want to work together want to be safe I don't think that there's anyone is coming up here with the intentions of just I guess so unwilling to to work with someone else so that being said we're going to do everything we can to be safe we're going to have it on hand sanitizers available her this Snowman sanitation wipes available at various locations on campus and so so students will have the opportunity to use those items to make sure that the . Dave disinfected themselves and in in their belongings as well as our staff will go above and beyond their responsibilities to sanitize their classrooms and in all the atoms that are in there with that being said that we're going to have a good school year it's going to start off a little differently than usual but we expect to 2 to start school normal as we can possibly start there are some students said if elected to take the virtual option and for those few students and then we do not have many they will be assigned an exact correct with the with the same teachers if they don't would if they're a normal classroom this will not be like in my package for in Spring it will absolutely not be like that so they students might help about it they're going to be on the same schedule not taking the same classes doing the same work have the same responsibilities as as if kids are coming to school so I don't want there to be a false idea out there that they're just getting worksheets sent home and and they're not having to do the assignments at the kids in school to do it so we hope this all blows over and it we can have a hundred sent back to normal school year but we're going to make the best of it and we're going to come out of this stronger and better than we were we've enhanced our technology capabilities we hold it by the end of this semester we are 121 was cry book devices for each student and when I say that I mean we are going to send an each student home with a device a Chromebook that they can take home uses their own then that device be turned in some point towards the end of the school year and then reissue hopefully starting the next school year so we're working toward getting to that point we hope that our shipment of Chromebooks comes in by this fall and were able to issue those to all the students furthermore we're we're looking forward to having your student back in school students now what we're ready to get started where play basketball we're ready to get all the activities that are fun about high school going again and and we we all miss that we all long for that high school is a berry intrical part of your of your life and it will be a welcome to everyone to have you back and you know more importantly you know get you getting to see everyone again but we were excited but we're ready to we're ready to get going and we hope to see you on the 24th Bradley High School home of the Bears we're ready to go please
