WEEK 1 (March 16-20)

For days 1-5, you may read your choice of 1 book or 5 reputable and relevant news articles.

Write a brief summary of the book or of each article that you read. I would expect at least a 3/4 page summary of a book or 3-4 sentences per news article.

If you read a book, write the title of the book and its author at the top of your assignment.

If you read news articles, write the title of the article, the name of the news source, the writer's name, the date it was published at the top of your assignment.

As you read, keep a record of words that you do not know. You need to have at least 10 new vocabulary words by the end of the week. Define each word, tell which page (for a book) or article and paragraph number (for a news article) that you found it in. For each word, either write a sentence that uses the word or draw a picture with a caption to represent the word.

If you have any questions, please email me at kristin.hearnsberger@etbsd.org.
