The Emerson-Taylor-Bradley School District will hold a special election on Tuesday, January 14, 2020. The purpose of the election is to propose a reissue and restructure of the district's current bonded indebtedness. Two bonds, a Bradley bond and an Emerson-Taylor bond, will be restructured into a single bond. The current tax rate will remain the same. This will NOT affect the tax rate. The current annual payment on the bonds will remain the same. The only change will be the addition of 13 years to the existing payment schedule. The schedule will be extended from 2037 to 2050. This extension will generate funds for the construction and equipping of a new cafeteria and four classroom addition to Taylor High School. Increased enrollment on the Taylor campus has exceeded the capacity of the Taylor cafeteria and high school classroom space. Also included with this proposal will be improvements, upgrades, equipment and remodeling of some facilities at all campuses. Additionally, the planned projects have been approved by the Arkansas Department of Education's Facilities Division for the State's Partnership Program. This approval will grant the District over $700,000 from the State and those funds do not have to be paid back. If the election fails and the projects are not begun by May 1, then the District will have to forfeit the State funds.
Public meetings have been scheduled at all campuses for anyone who would like to get more information about this election. Listed are the planned meetings, dates, times & locations. You are welcome to contact Gary Hines at 870-626-3271 if you have any questions.
